This post is now going to combine all my "Missing Manuals" so I have one place for feedback, as I was getting tired at looking at multiple threads.

  • Pending Research
    • Sivir Ricochet and how it works in regards to damage applied, armor, and so forth
    • How do assists work?

  • The Missing Manual - Game Mechanics

    • This guide is intended to be the reference on how mechanics work in league of legends, attempts have been made to ensure all the data is accurate and sourced, if you see something un-sourced in it, I believe that I understand the mechanics, but as of yet have not confirmed my understanding.

This all stemmed from my frustration at the lack of clear mechanics documentation, and I am obviously not the only one (http://leaguecraft.c...hcrafting.xhtml is a great example of someone trying to fix this).

What I am looking to do is collect all the good, useful up to date links to mechanics I can find. I am talking everything from how towers scale and how much damage they do, to if slows stack... and any other mechanic you can think of...
  • The Missing Manual - Champions, Items and Oddities
UPDATE: Now going to cover items and just general oddities. Consider this a catch all.

I have gotten a few requests to add champion data to my mechanics manual (see signature). While I don't think that is the right place for it, I can see the need for some undocumented information on champions and abilities to be put together, so my next project is all about champions.

My goal is to get basic stats and any quarks / needs to know info about all the champions together. Much like my other manual, I will be looking to source all the data as much as I can.

Examples of stuff that will be in this manual is "Kats abilities do magic damage even when being built with AD", "Heims turrets do magic damage and can't be blinded"... so consider this post a start of a call for more information on your favorite champions... what is odd/weird/unexpected about them.

I found some links on the main forums that maybe useful.

There are a few more mechanics in here such as tower scaling and theory about elo. Note that this link is a bit out of date.

This is not a full list of what is magical or physical, but it is a start. Just look throughout the thread.

Cho'Gath: ult true (does 100% damage regardless of their MR or Armor)
From my experience against AP Cho's stacking magic resist helps mitigating his ult dmg, meaning you don't get NOM NOMED while being 60% hp. That's my impression at least. Can someone clarify it ?

PS: Another question that came up my mind. Say Twitch is Black Shielded by Morgana. Can you use Exhaust on him or it gets blocked ?

Pretty sure Cho'gath feast is true damage and not mitigated by MR. Maybe by 20 stack levi or the max def tree 4% though.

It is not true damage, but it does ignore MR (as the tooltip says). Which means, a shield will still absorb it, it can be reduced by Alistar's ult, etc... but it doesn't care what your MR is.

If a skill that deals magic damage hits a target with 0 magic resist deals true damage ; Now how can u say that its not true damage, but it ignores the targets MR .

Of course a shield would absorb it, since it is actually self explanatory in the very idea of an shield, be it Feint, Intervention or Banshee's Veil .

True Damage (read: Olaf's ability, Corki's passive) entirely ignores stuff like Alistar's ult, Cho's does not, that is why the tooltips are different, the abilities are different.

This sort of proves my point about needing a accurate mechanics location, I will make sure True Damage is a topic in it.

Work started, just a rough start, as the freaking guide editor keeps flipping out on me, comment here or in the comments to the guide.

Here It Is!

This is actually one of my biggest problems with RIOT. Any type of mechanic has pretty much no explanation in game. The game does a horrible job of training people with the tutorial.

Yeah, but some people on these forums have done a lot of work to try to fix it, I am just trying to bundle up (and track down) all that work, combine it with the official docs from Riot, and see if I can come up with something people can trust. Not there yet, but it is a goal.

Your example in the "Slows" section of your guide is incorrect. I suggest you read the entire thread that you linked as a reference as the multiplicative stacking of slows is covered therein. It also covers the hard-coded diminishing returns that are built into movespeed mechanics.

Thanks, that is actually more to do with the freaking leaguecraft time traveling editor than anything else... every edit I have to double-check to make sure some random bit didn't get rolled back -- title / summary under title seems to be specifically horrible in this regard... and I have had to fix the odd formatting in freaking movement like 11 times.

Thanks so much for pointing out the error! Hopefully it is correct now, with enough examples to help everyone understand.

You could probably remove the "more reference data" link from that section. I answered the question in that thread and closed it. I fixed up the OP in my stickied threads on slows so the information is easier to find. That should be all you need to reference.

Thanks again, and let me know if you see anything missing from it, any mechanic that really needs to be covered.
