Coal doing them rankeds - 2nd may last update! Massive winning spree and almost 1700 elo!

Hi, I’m Coal and my mouth is bigger than it’s actually good for me.

I never really gave a rat’s ass about ranked. Derping around in 1400 ranked while my normal elo allowed me to regularly play versus good players (a lot of 1700 – 2300s, I encounter famous players on a semi regular basis) seemed like a waste of time. The possibility to play well, but still pick wacky things and to play with premades of any size in normals was just too much fun to skip.

I played to 1500 two times only to realise I don’t give a fuck and just to decay to 1400 elo again, which in hindsight is quite the waste (lost about 200 to decay I think, I have seen people with my win/loss ratio having 1800 elo).

Coming back from a long break and playing a lot of dota2 made me realise I really wanted to learn to jungle (as roaming around is way more common in that game and I’m not too much of a fan of laning). Also I finally got myself to grind some elo, because I have to back that big fucking mouth up.

A real life friend of mine was stuck at 1200 elo after 400 games (never reaching higher than almost 1500 elo I think). I told him to man the fuck up and he grinded himself to 1500. Perfect. Lets duo.

My target: get to 1900, gain a better overview of the game, learn to jungle (while not ignoring my ability to lane decently) and gain a greater understanding of how to tackle objectives and understand what happens map wide. I also noticed that my ability to judge fights took a big hit from taking such a big break, another point to improve to either old levels or better. While doing it I try to explain to my friend why I do the things to do, which also help me gain a bigger understanding of why my and his actions are right or wrong.

Today I spoke with another LC member (Daeron, u suck) about someone who made a graph about his elo in- and decrease, as an experiment I want to do the same and also add whatever I have learned and what I have to improve.

I will keep check of my own rating, learning moments and issues. I will compile a graph after I reached 1900 (or another point if I get tired of this)

At least we will finally get a proof that Elo hell really exists and that some people will never reach plat. Mwhahaha.

Maybe you should just turn this entire thread for everyone to make "graphs" and keep track of their rating and their learning moments and stuff.

Assuming other people around here actually care about ranked...

My original idea was to make an average graph for bronze/silver/gold/platinum players as they progress out of the 1200s. But you'd need a fuckload of people willing to participate for that.

It would and it would definitely help people to get better, but I play too few rankeds to care (my last ranked was only there to stop the elo decay ^^)

You have my thanks. Now the question is, how would we do this and keep it in one topic? Just people post and I link in OP?

People at 1500 elo aren't really 'bad', the main difference I notice between them and 1700s I encounter in normals and my friends is that they have a lesser awareness of objectives and how to counter enemy ganks.

HOW YOU DARE TO SAY THAT MUNDO IS NOT IMMORTAL? but good luck to you sir i stopped playing ranked long time ago cause i decided i want to play just for fun and i dont want to acomplish anything in this game. But when i play'd solo q i didnt rly care about loses becouse there are many more games when you can do something to win that games when you cant do anything even if you're #1 eu player. I found out that players at 1500-1600 elo are not losing cause they are bad, Mostly its becouse they cant take advantage of enemy mistakes. The play their game and dont adapt to the enemy.

So, until this thread finds a purpose in the whole "sharing" and "graphs" department I've decided I'll do my own sort of diary, but of course on the wiki:
