Hello.
I want to play the Ad-carry role really well. I hope you can help me and answer my questions:
-My favorite (most fun) carries are Vayne, Ashe and Caitlyn. If I would play all three of them really well, would that be a solid variety for common team compositions or am I missing something?
-What to do if someone in mid or top lane somehow gets fed? My team is loosing all fights, but I'm not strong enough to be a threat in early team fights, especially not vs a fed mage or bruiser? Should I farm and try to delay it into lategame? Should we try to get ward control with oracle, trap them and initiate if we outnumber them?
-What to do vs "tanks" who jump at me and try to kill me? The general rule is as far i know "attack the target you can attack without bringing yourself in danger". However thats often the opponents offtank like nocturne or irelia. I can't just ignore them. To kill them fast I would need like Infinity Edge/Phantom Dancer/Last Whisper. And even then it would take a while to kill a target with like 200-300 armor. E.g. lategame riven with bloodthirster + last whisper + maw of mawtious + guardian angel + frozen heart is so scary. Or those champions like poppy/olaf who just run towards your team to kill you.
-In general I feel like I need Infinity Edge to deal serious damage (or bloodthirster), not being a real threat before IE + PD and then still having issues vs offtanks until Last whisper. Often I also need QSS vs CC like warwick ultimate. So it takes quite a while to get the required farm. Is that normal or am I doing something wrong?
-What can I do if I have to play with an incompetent support - just like a last pick who normally doesn't want to play support?

Thanks for all useful answers
Meril

- You should learn a carry that isn't Caitlyn, as her lategame damage is not on par with other carries and Sivir/Graves are more "balanced" throughout the game. Vayne, Ashe, and Sivir/Graves/Ezreal is a good selection, as you then have 3 different picks: utility/CC (Ashe), very strong lategame (Vayne/Kog'Maw), and very strong/aggressive laning phase (Ezreal/Sivir/Graves).

- If the enemy top/mid is fed, ward your lane and play defensively, farming until you have IE and PD. AD Carries don't have much effect on the game until they have their items, so the faster you get those items, the faster you can start carrying in your game.

- If your team is losing all teamfights, then don't do teamfights. See if you can roam as a team and find someone alone, then take Dragon. Try to get as fed as possible (whether off minions or off enemy champions). Very early on, you can choose not to teamfight by playing defensively (tower hugging) or roaming as a team to catch someone off guard.

- Run from tanks and off-tanks. If you're Ashe, you can kite almost anyone (not Irelia though). If you're Graves/Sivir/Ezreal, you can burst them hard and then just kinda run around your team and they will (hopefully) jump on the out-of-position off-tank.

- Yes, you do need IE/BT + PD to deal damage. AD Carries are weak without items, but very strong with them :P If you learn to last hit better, you will also get these items earlier. So for this I would suggest learning how to last hit. You can practice in bot games for the basics, or you can just do some normals where you don't care about anything except last hitting in the lane.

- It's hard to play with an incompetent support if the enemy has a good support, but it's possible. Play defensively, even if your support tries to go in offensively. If they aren't warding properly, ask them to and buy some wards of your own (it's worth giving up the 75g, as surviving a gank due to a ward will allow you to last hit far more than 75g). Alternatively, find a duo queue partner who likes to play support. You can also try to freeze your lane near your turret, to both deny the enemy farm and to make it harder for them to engage on you without taking a lot of tower damage. Try not to push the lane at all if your support is incompetent, unless you know for sure the lane will reset before the enemy gets back.

We could stand for a century, staring with our heads cocked in the broad daylight at this thing. Joy, landlocked, in bodies that don't keep dumbstruck with the sweetness of being.

Suzaku has got the gist of it. If you decide to play Ezreal though, he's got a very strong early game but he's nowhere near as effective late game as other carries, Ashe is the other way around. Weak early but amazing late with items.

He's still very strong lategame due to his passive and W speed debuff :P You just need to build Brutalizer into IE instead of trying to gimmick build a Trinity Force.

EDIT: I forgot Corki. He's like Ezreal but better and easier.

Many thanks for the fast answers.
I think last hitting under pressure (not vs bots/no one) is my issue. Then I have not enough gold and until I have enough items the match is often decided. Also as AD-carry I have to get as much farm as possible the whole match, right? So after laning phase I can roam around farming huge creep waves on lanes/jungle (well, not if my team needs me for objectives like baron/towers).
@Caitlyn: In general I like her. Lategame she doesn't deal as much damage as other carries, but she can kite quite well (I think vs some champions traps + net might be better than ashes slow) and siege towers (huge range). In laning phase you have the range advantage. You can harass really well, but its actually quite hard to manage last hitting and harassing (esspecially vs a sustain support like soraka it seems hard) and also you will loose many "all ins"/vs burst combos if you aren't abusing your range. Watiching MLG Corki seems to be quite strong, howevr I dislike that he plays so caster like. Maybe I could choose varus? I actually like this 3-shot-skill passive, ultimate and sniper Q.

Varus is mostly used for AoE comps like Amumu jungle with Leona support or Galio mid etc, but he's pretty okay.

This video I found has quite a few strategies needed for the AD carry role. http://youtu.be/Zbgc7N7GszE
