Hello all! Let me start by simply thanking all of the great mods/admins/gurus here on this awesome site for all of the great info, tutorials, and programs made available to fledgling skinners such as my self (and a very special thanks to LGG for continuing the work on SIU, which makes things a HELL of a lot easier)!

I am rather new to the creation side of skinning, but I have been using custom skins for quite a while now. I think I have a pretty good understanding of how things work around here (even if the RAF files are a giant pile of a mess -_-) and have gotten the hang of using RAF Manager and SUI to rip and install skins.

I am having a lot of trouble trying to get my first project done, however, which is a simple recolour of Jayce's Full Metal skin (entirely new models is a daunting task, but one I hope to tackle in the future). I have managed to track down and rip all, or apparently all, of his files with RAF Manager, and *half* of my project is complete. I have been able to replace the .skn and .skl files and recolour his melee stance using GIMP.

The problem I'm having, and can't seem to figure it out for the life of me, is his ranged stance. With his default skin this doesn't seem to be a problem, but when it comes to the Full Metal Jayce model, I can't seem to figure out which .dds file I should be editing.

Hopefully a guru can have a look at his files, which are found under the 0.0.0.107 "tree" in RAF Manager. For his default skin, he has a Jayce_base_TX_CM.dds file, which appears to be his ranged stance, and a Jayce_base_melee_TX_CM.dds file for his melee stance. But for Full Metal Jayce, it appears he only has ONE file, Jayce_sentinel_TX_CM.dds. I have no idea why there isn't a Jayce_sentinel_melee_TX_CM.dds... =\

What is also hella confusing is that the Jayce_base_TX_CM.dds file has 1024x1024 dimensions, while the Jayce_base_melee_TX_CM.dds file is only 512x512. God only knows why.

If I rename the Jayce_sentinel_TX_CM.dds file (for his Full Metal skin) to Jayce_base_melee_TX_CM.dds (intending to replace his default), it only works for his melee stance. Switching to ranged stance keeps the Full Metal model, but it attempts to use the default skin, and looks terrible. Renaming it to simply Jayce_base_TX_CM.dds makes BOTH stances use the default skin, so both look terrible. It would seem that there *should* be a Jayce_sentinel_melee_TX_CM.dds file, but there isn't. I have looked under every RAF "tree" there is, thinking Riot might have dumped it somewhere else, to no avail.

Hopefully you can follow all that jargon, but chances are you'll have to see it yourself to know what the hell I'm talking about. The bottom line is if I rename his Full Metal files to replace his default, the model changes but the skin only copies over to his melee stance. I even tried making a copy of the Jayce_sentinel_TX_CM.dds file and renaming it so I have both a Jayce_base_TX_CM.dds file AND a Jayce_base_melee_TX_CM.dds file, but that doesn't make a difference.

If anyone can help me out with this, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks in advance!

Figured that for myself yesterday when i tested full-metal for particles etc.
Easier than it seems. The .dds file that u edited for the character look, put that into the particles folder too.
Seems like the animations handle the stance switch from the original DDS file.

So basicly: Character dds file name --> Jayce_base_melee_TX_CM.dds
Particle folder dds name: --->
Jayce_base_TX_CM.dds

They should be the very same dds that u edited for ur skin (melee) just change the names.

OMG thank you! That was easy. -_-

The problem was, for some reason, when I was adding the Jayce_base_TX_CM.dds file before, I wasn't getting a "multiple file location" prompt, and couldn't replace the particle file. Now it seems I can...?

Either way, it's working now. Thank you very much!

Edit - And I just figured out why it wasn't working; I was putting the files into SUI without zipping them. But that leads to the question: why do we need to zip our files for the "multiple location paths" prompt to show up LGG? Now that I've figured this out and am editing my skin in earnest, I'm finding it rather annoying every time I want to check my progress in-game.

Is there a reason, or can LGG remedy this?

no you don't have to zip them. just put them into a folder and drag n drop them into siu. you even can just press ctrl+A and drag your files into siu.

I know you can add individual files, but what I meant was when I add them individually, instead of in a .zip file, I don't get the "multiple path locations" prompt. So in this case, I was never asked which file I wanted my Jayce_base_TX_CM.dds file to replace, which is necessary for the skin to work properly. I only get the prompt if I .zip the files for some reason.

Finally, my first skin is complete! Check it out: http://leaguecraft.c...man-jayce.xhtml

Also, I made this as a guide for any future Jayce projects, and thought I might as well share it to make life easier for new Jayce skinners. I'd love to see some more customs for this awesome champ!

I think that pathing is cuz most the skinners test the skin ingame and then just extract the installed skin with SIU which creates folders, then they just zip it for the upload :P Not sure though :D

Glad i could help.
